COURSE OVERVIEW: Architecture Studio 2 develops a student’s understanding of architecture through relationships to site systems, program, and tectonics. Tectonics are: the relationship among constructed elements that form a building language. Through a series of studies, students will develop understanding of how to form a spatial language by working through interwoven relationships that surround the built environment. This studio recognizes the importance of spatial assembly and its inherent potential to generate an architectural language.

DESIGN INTENTION: In this studio, students will generate and develop projects through a series of methods of working. A number of exercises will involve methods of sketching, drawing, diagramming, physical model-making, writing, and verbal presentation. These are intended to be not only tools for representation, but methods of working through an idea to develop from concept to project.
